Fall & Spring Conferences

Where growth takes center stage

Twice a year, students, families, and teachers come together to talk about learning, celebrate progress, and set goals.

FALL: Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences

In September, families meet with teachers and their student to have a quick 5-min check-in, in person on how the year is starting, review progress, and set goals for the months ahead.

In-Person Conferences took place in September. If you missed the dates, please contact your student's teacher to schedule a conversation separately.

SPRING: Student-Led Conferences

At SLArts, students are at the center of their learning, and our Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) put them in charge. Throughout their time at SLArts, every student builds and refines a personal portfolio. Each March, they use it to show their families where they’ve been, where they are now, and where they want to go next.

What to expect

Each conference lasts about 15–20 minutes and is held with the student’s advisory teacher. The student leads, presenting their portfolio to their family. Throughout the year, teachers in every core class help students build their portfolios by reflecting on their learning, selecting work they’re proud of, identifying strengths, and setting goals.

Most of all, SLCs are a celebration: a chance for students to pause, look back on their hard work, and share their growth with the people who matter most.

Why Student-Led Conferences Matter

Icon

Ownership

When students lead the conversation, they take ownership of their learning, naming their strengths and the areas where they want to grow.

Icon

Growth

A portfolio lets students see their learning over time and recognize just how far they’ve come.

Icon

Confidence

Presenting to family builds real communication and self-advocacy skills, and a well-earned sense of pride.

What Matters Most

The focus isn’t just on grades. It’s on learning, effort, and who students are becoming as learners.

Icon

Partnership

Families get a window into their child’s school experience and learn how best to support them.
