Policies + Notices

By law, SLArts personnel may NOT administer any type of medication to students, except as described below. We may offer students soap and water, band-aids (though not antibiotic ointment), and occasionally ice packs.

If students need an OTC medication* (over-the-counter medicine, such as ibuprofen) while at school:

✔ They may bring enough for one day to keep and use at school.

  • Medications may NEVER be shared with anyone at school.
  • Medications must be put away, preferably in their locked locker.

✔ If a larger supply is needed at school, and/or if school personnel are to administer the OTC medication:

  • Medication must stay in the office.
  • It must be treated like a prescription medication (see below).

If students need a prescription medication while at school:

✔ We MUST have a Student Medication Form on file for the current school year.

  • Forms are available in the office and BELOW.
  • They must be filled out/signed by both a parent and a physician.
  • They must specify EACH authorized medication by name, indication, dosage, method to administer, and time/frequency of administration.

✔ The medication must be kept locked up in the office.

✔ Students may carry certain emergency prescription medications such as inhalers and epi-pens, if this is noted by their physician and parent on their Student Medication Form.

Title IX Policy on Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

Salt Lake Arts Academy (SLArts) seeks to provide a positive environment based on mutual respect for its community of students, teachers, staff, and administrators. This environment should be free of sexual harassment and retaliation.

With this goal, and pursuant to the mandates of applicable laws and regulations, SLArts has developed this policy and its procedures to provide prompt and equitable processes for SLArts community members involved in allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation. These procedures, rather than any other grievance policy or procedures, will apply when there are allegations of sexual harassment and/or retaliation as defined in this policy.

Non-Discrimination Statement

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Plan to change schools for next year? Notify both SLArts and your new school or district by June 30. If you apply to your home district by then, your student is guaranteed a spot at your neighborhood school.

Withdrawing after June 30 or during the school year? You'll first need a letter of acceptance from the new school, which you'll share with SLArts. After June 30, your district may place your student at a different school with space, so it's best to plan early.

Thinking about coming back later? Students who withdraw will need to reapply through the Enrollment Lottery, so we can't always guarantee a spot.

To withdraw, or if you have questions, contact Registrar Jen Guillory at jeng@slarts.org.
